Used Transformer Buyers

We buy used transformers of every class, rating and vintage, in whatever condition they are in today.

A used transformer is worth buying because new ones have long lead times. When a plant needs a replacement unit at a specific rating and voltage and cannot wait a year for a new one, a serviceable used unit becomes genuinely valuable. That demand is what we are pricing against when we make you an offer.

01Paid Upfront

You are paid before the transformer leaves your property. No consignment, no waiting on a resale.

02No Testing Needed

We do not ask you to test, repair or clean anything. We evaluate the unit ourselves.

03Freight On Us

We cover the freight and the rigging. Lowboys, cribbing, permits and escorts are our cost.

04We Do Teardown

Disconnection, dismantling and removal are handled by our crews at our expense.

Condition matters less than most sellers expect. Surface rust, a pried-open cabinet, missing elbows, a weeping gasket or a decade of sitting outside do not disqualify a unit. What matters is whether the core and coil are intact and whether the rating and voltages match something the market wants.

We also buy units that are not serviceable, priced on metal content. The reason to call before you scrap is simple: sellers routinely scrap units we would have paid several times scrap value for, and that decision cannot be reversed.

Used units we buy regularly

  • Pad-mounts pulled during a service upgrade or site redevelopment.
  • Oil-filled substation transformers from closed or downsized plants.
  • Dry-type and cast-coil units out of mechanical rooms and tenant build-outs.
  • Unused spares that were bought years ago and never installed.
  • Storm-damaged units replaced under insurance.
  • Entire laydown yards and liquidation lots as a single purchase.

What happens after you accept

We confirm the pickup window against your schedule, send our own crew and equipment, and pay you before anything moves. If a utility disconnect has to happen first we coordinate the timing with your electrician. If the pad has to stay intact we cut and lift without tearing it up.

Oil-filled units are handled under the appropriate rules for their PCB status. If the nameplate does not confirm non-PCB, we treat the unit as presumed-contaminated, price the correct disposal path in, and tell you plainly which category yours falls into.

Questions we get asked

Straight answers

Do you charge anything to quote or to remove the unit?

No. Quoting is free and removal is our cost. If you accept our number, nothing comes out of your pocket at any stage.

How quickly can this happen?

A number usually comes back the same day you send photos. Pickup is typically within one to two weeks, and faster when you have a demolition date or lease deadline driving it.

What if I only have one transformer?

One unit is worth a call. Small units are frequently best combined into a lot, but we buy singles routinely.

Do you buy transformers in every state?

Yes, all 50 states and the District of Columbia. We stage freight regionally so location affects our scheduling rather than your price.
