Pad-mount transformers are the single most common unit we buy. They sit on a concrete pad in a locked steel cabinet, feed a building or a group of buildings, and get replaced whenever the service is upsized, the site is redeveloped or the utility takes over ownership. Because they are weather-rated and self-contained, a used padmount that has been sitting outside for a year is often still perfectly resaleable.
You are paid before the transformer leaves your property. No consignment, no waiting on a resale.
We do not ask you to test, repair or clean anything. We evaluate the unit ourselves.
We cover the freight and the rigging. Lowboys, cribbing, permits and escorts are our cost.
Disconnection, dismantling and removal are handled by our crews at our expense.
What we look for in pad-mount transformers
We buy loop-feed and radial-feed units, dead-front and live-front, with or without the elbows and bushings still attached. Missing hardware does not disqualify a unit. Neither does a cabinet that has been pried open, a broken lock, or surface rust.
The three things that move the price on a padmount are the kVA rating, the primary and secondary voltages, and whether the oil is clean. A 1000 kVA 13.2kV to 480Y/277V unit from a mainstream manufacturer is a stocking item for us and gets a strong number. An odd primary voltage or an unusual secondary is worth less because the resale pool is smaller.
