Substation Transformers Buyers
Station-class units from plant substations, utility yards and industrial services. We pay upfront and cover the freight, rigging and teardown ourselves.
Substation transformers are the large station-class units that step utility transmission or subtransmission voltage down to a plant distribution level. They are heavy, they are valuable, and they are the units most often abandoned in place when a facility closes because the owner assumes moving them is impossible.

You are paid before the transformer leaves your property. No consignment, no waiting on a resale.
We do not ask you to test, repair or clean anything. We evaluate the unit ourselves.
We cover the freight and the rigging. Lowboys, cribbing, permits and escorts are our cost.
Disconnection, dismantling and removal are handled by our crews at our expense.
What we look for in substation transformers
It is not impossible, it is just a rigging job, and rigging is what we do at our own expense. We bring the cribbing, the jacks, the lowboy and the permits. A unit that has been sitting in a fenced yard since the plant shut down is often the single most valuable asset left on the property.
For station-class units we want the full nameplate: kVA or MVA rating, HV and LV voltages, impedance, cooling class such as ONAN or ONAF, tap changer type and year. Load tap changers add value. So do detached radiators, conservators and bushings that are still with the unit.
| Rating range | 500 kVA through 50 MVA and above |
|---|---|
| HV voltages | 34.5kV, 46kV, 69kV, 115kV, 138kV, 161kV, 230kV |
| Cooling classes | ONAN, ONAF, OFAF, KNAN |
| Tap changers | NLTC and LTC units both purchased |
| Rigging | Included at our cost, including cribbing and permits |
| Abandoned in place | We will quote units that have sat for years. |
