Oil-Filled Transformers Buyers

Liquid-filled units including mineral oil, FR3 and silicone fluid, with or without radiators. We pay upfront and cover the freight, rigging and teardown ourselves.

Oil-filled transformers scare a lot of sellers because of the fluid. They should not. We buy liquid-filled units routinely and we handle the fluid side of the transaction, including containment during the lift and transport in accordance with the applicable rules. You do not need to drain anything before we arrive.

01Paid Upfront

You are paid before the transformer leaves your property. No consignment, no waiting on a resale.

02No Testing Needed

We do not ask you to test, repair or clean anything. We evaluate the unit ourselves.

03Freight On Us

We cover the freight and the rigging. Lowboys, cribbing, permits and escorts are our cost.

04We Do Teardown

Disconnection, dismantling and removal are handled by our crews at our expense.

What we look for in oil-filled transformers

Mineral oil, FR3 vegetable-based fluid and silicone are all fine. FR3 units in particular carry a premium because they are accepted in locations where mineral oil is restricted. If your nameplate says FR3 or Envirotemp, mention it, because it raises the offer.

PCB status matters. Units built before 1979 may contain PCBs, and if the nameplate does not say non-PCB we treat the unit as presumed-contaminated until it is tested. That does not make the transformer unsellable, it just changes the disposal path and therefore the number. We will tell you plainly which category your unit falls into.

Oil-Filled Transformers: common questions

Straight answers

Do you buy oil-filled transformers in any condition?

Yes. Purchased. Disposal path priced into the offer. We do not require testing, cleaning or repairs.

How do you decide what to offer?

Rating, voltages, manufacturer, winding material, fluid type and overall condition, weighed against what that specific combination is worth on the resale market right now.

Who handles removal?

We do, at our cost. That includes disconnection coordination, teardown, rigging, cribbing, permits and freight.

How fast can you pick up?

Usually within a week or two of agreeing on a price, and faster if you have a hard deadline like a demolition date or a lease expiration.
