In every one of those cases the owner ends up with a large, heavy, awkward asset and no obvious way to convert it.
Scrapping is the default, and it is usually the wrong call. A scrap price reflects metal weight minus the yard's hauling cost. Our price reflects what the transformer is worth to somebody who needs that rating and voltage, which for a serviceable unit is frequently several times the scrap number. We also buy genuine scrap-grade units, so there is no downside to asking first.
